In a significant push towards strengthening Russian-Indian ties, Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Denis Manturov, arrived in India to participate in high-level discussions aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation. Mr. Manturov’s visit includes his participation in the Russian-Indian Business Forum in Mumbai on November 11, where he will address key areas of economic collaboration between the two nations. According to a statement from the Russian Embassy, the event is designed to bring together entrepreneurs from both countries, fostering dialogue and partnership in emerging areas of shared interest. Organized by the Business Council for Cooperation with India and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the forum will feature thematic sessions that cover pressing areas of collaboration. These include industrial cooperation, transportation and logistics, financial integration, digital technologies, and the bolstering of interregional ties. By bringing together key players from these sectors, the forum aims to lay the groundwork for new investments, joint ventures, and technology transfers, enhancing the trade landscape between the two countries.
As part of his visit, Mr. Manturov will then head to New Delhi on November 12 to co-chair the 25th Session of the Intergovernmental Russian-Indian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation alongside India’s External Affairs Minister, Mr. S. Jaishankar. This commission, a critical platform for overseeing and promoting various facets of Russian-Indian bilateral relations, seeks to strengthen cooperation not only in trade and economics but also in scientific and cultural exchange. The upcoming session of the commission is expected to review the progress made on existing agreements while identifying new areas for future collaboration. The session is also anticipated to address challenges within the partnership, with a particular focus on advancing strategic projects in sectors like energy, technology, and defense. Mr. Manturov’s visit, the embassy noted, will include several additional bilateral meetings with Indian officials.
