Pakistan should cooperate in fight against terrorism: Singh

PM Modi’s agenda for dealing with terrorism is to treat it as a global phenomenon, delink it from religion and take collective global action for tackling the threat. Backing this up, Home Minister Rajnath Singh asked Pakistan to extend support in tackling terrorism, given Pakistan’s own battle with home grown and regional terror outfits.

“It (Pakistan) should extend full cooperation in checking terrorism because the country is facing a similar problem today,” he said.

Earlier in the week, Pakistan had reacted strongly to India’s Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar’s comment about neutralizing terrorists through terrorists. The Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, said that the comment confirmed that India was sponsoring terrorism against its neighbor. Mr Singh refuted the statement saying that not only India, but the whole world knew who was involved in promoting terrorism.

Addressing the SBI officers’ convention, Mr Singh took note of national security concerns, including fake currency. Much of his talked revolved around the growing menace of terrorism in India and its neighbors.

There have been several incidents of terror acts in Pakistan in 2015 alone, with the most recent one occurred on May 13th, when terrorists entered a bus in Karachi and opened fire. The sudden ambush killed more than forty people and injured many.
