A 41-year-old Indian IT professional, Prabha Arun Kumar, was stabbed to death in Sydney in Australia on March 7, just a few metres from her home.
Prabha Kumar was talking to her husband over the phone when she was attacked in Westmead, a residential area in Sydney. She was walking back home from work at the time. “I think I’ve been stabbed,” she reportedly told her husband.
She was rushed to Westmead Hospital where she was pronounced dead. “There was a large amount of blood so she obviously suffered a significant wound,” Superintendent Wayne Cox from Parramatta police said.
Prabha Kumar’s employer Mindtree has termed the incident extremely “unfortunate and shocking”.
“Our prayers are with the family of the deceased. We are working with the officials of both the countries to help the family to bring the body back to India. We are providing all the necessary support to authorities investigating the case,” Mindtree said in a statement.
