Pathankot attack: NIA releases photos of terrorists ahead of Pakistan’s JIT visit

Ahead of Pakistan’s Joint Investigation Team (JIT) visiting India, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) released photographs of four terrorists who were killed during the counter-offensive with Indian forces on January 2. The JIT, which is scheduled to arrive in India on March 27, will be taken to places related to the attacks. However, there is no official confirmation on whether the investigating team would be given access to the Pathankot air base during the investigations.

The photos taken by the NIA featured the bodies of the four terrorists along with their description. The NIA said that one of the terrorists killed did not have a toe in both the feet. The investigating agency is trying to collect more information about the terrorists and has circulated the pictures in public.

The NIA has already approached the Interpol to issue a Black Notice on the four terrorists. The international notice is issued usually in the case of identification of unidentified bodies found in a country. The Forensic laboratory in Chandigarh had said that they had found human remains in the samples handed over by the NIA. India is trying to acquire details of the phone numbers dialled by the four terrorists ahead of the attack on the airbase during the night of January 1 and early hours of January 2.

Giving strong evidence, the NIA has provided details such as the food packets used by the terrorists, and the batch number of food packets after they infiltrated into India on December 30.
