Rattled by remarks of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ministers, Pakistan’s Senate unanimously passed a resolution, condemning the “provocative and hostile” statements which, according to it, reflected the Indian “hegemonic mindset”.
The resolution condemned the recent “disturbing pattern of provocative and hostile” statements made by Indian leaders, which included threatening attacks against Pakistani territory, and emphasised that Pakistan will never allow its territory to be violated by India under any circumstances.
During the discussion on the resolution, Pakistani political leaders charged that such “crude attempts” by India were unacceptable and “Pakistan rejects this “hegemonic mindset”. They threatened that the Pakistani Army would give a befitting reply to any incursion attempt made by India.
The resolution came a day after India launched surgical strikes in Myanmar and eliminated over a dozen insurgents, suspected to be behind the Manipur attack that killed 20 troops of a team of 6 Dogra Regiment.
Islamabad also urged the United Nations to take note of Mr Modi’s open admission of indulging in activities to destabilise Pakistan.
“Pakistan will take all possible steps to expose India’s role in the break-up of East Pakistan in 1971 and its threat to destabilise Pakistan through terrorism,” Pakistan Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said.
In his address at the Dhaka University during his visit to Bangladesh earlier this month, Mr Modi has spoken about the role played by India in the independence of Bangladesh. He had said that 90,000 Pakistani prisoners of war were in India’s captivity during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. “If we had a diabolic mindset, we don’t know then what decision we would have taken.” he had said.
